I loaded sound file to SoundCloud for sharing some experiments with my bent Casio pocket calculator. Beat is coming from Olegtron 4060 prototype and there is some speed adjustment done with Step Resistor, which is 10x10k resistors in parallel and using crocodile clips for changing the resistor value (demonstration pic coming later).
There is not much change with the basic beat, but if you listen carefully, you can hear soft squarewave-type bleeps, these are coming from the calculator. Changes and random sounds are coming when I change pins on calculator chip.
There is coming more audio samples, pics of this work-in-progress project. In the picture you seen bent calculator on the left and Olegtron 4060 prototype on the right. Adjustable step resistor is missing from the picture, since I made it after taking the photo.

First of all, greetings from sunny New York. It is pleasure to be working in Finnish Cultural Institute residency in Brooklyn, NY, US. (More about these activities in later blog postings…)
After all finished projects keeping me busy this spring and summer, I’m finally updating my website with new images, videos of my recent works and I’m trying to somehow organise all my recent artistic activities into logical and user friendly order.
Meanwhile while updating new website, what you are seeing here, is mix-up and chaos of new and old website. Please be patient and try to find what you are looking for. Basically top navigation bar helps for finding all relevant info. It not might be yet in top-notch viewable format, but atleast you can get the idea of what I have been recently working with.
Regarding future website and functionalities with it. Blog will be the center for news updates. So my current finished projects, work-in-progress, ideas, workshops, music events etc. etc. can be found there.
Easy? Confused? Please comment or just enjoy of the summer. Thanks!
It seems I’m changing theme for the new website, because current theme lacks some basic things, no matter how much I try to tweak it:
- I can’t add date/time to blog posts FIXED.
- I can’t add right nav bar (recent posts, calendar, tag cloud etc.) next to blog posts FIXED.
- comment box missing after blog posts PARTLY FIXED.
- blog archives with picture boxes looks ridiculous
So… yes, it will be a yet-another-mess, since I already created menu for this theme etc. etc. etc.
If you know any good ‘portfolio’ wp-theme, please recommend.
